A very special anniversary

Emil Gisler AG / GIPO AG can certainly count on its loyal customers, as evidenced by the buyer of its 1001st plant to be supplied – the Uri-based company formerly known as Aggregat, today Agir Aggregat AG. As long ago as 1982, the company ordered a track-mounted and fully hydraulic stone crushing plant from us. At that time, it was the very first track-mounted plant to be produced in Seedorf, having been invented and built by our company founder Emil Gisler together with the customer Fritz Bilger. Even today it remains a monument to company history and stands on a plinth at the entrance to the company premises. With this 1001st plant, it gives us great pleasure to be celebrating a kind of special anniversary where an ‘old acquaintance’ is the customer. In the next few days, the 1001st plant will leave the Seedorf site in the direction of Zurich.

In this interview Gerhard Reichholf, Technical Manager for Gravel & Concrete, explains to us why they have once again chosen a GIPO system and what it is to be used for.

The very first crushing plant of Agir AG was a track-mounted jaw crusher. Which plant type from the GIPO AG portfolio has now been awarded the contract for the 1001st plant?

Agir AG (parent company of the former Uri-based company Aggregat AG, today’s Agir Aggregat AG) has ordered a superlative crushing plant in the form of the GIPOKOMBI RC 130 FDR E. Although visually speaking the plant looks like a conventional track-mounted impact crusher with screening unit, the focus here is on the screening. With the very generously dimensioned pre-screening unit, material fed through the impact crusher is kept to a bare minimum. In the secondary screening unit, the feed materials are separated into several categories. After many years of using diesel-powered crushing systems, Agir AG has now decided to opt for an electrically powered plant in order to make a further contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.

The GIPOKOMBI RC 130 FDR E, a track-mounted impact crusher with screening unit, has a weight of ca. 130 tonnes. This impressive weight is only surpassed by its massive geometry. The imposing plant has a height of 6.5 metres and a length of 28.5 metres. If the two discharge belts mounted on the sides are swung out to their maximum, 19 metres of additional width are needed.

What building materials are processed with the new impact crusher?

Designed for mobile use, the plant will be used exclusively at the Hardwald site of Agir AG just outside Zurich. For decades Agir AG has been producing recycled building materials from demolition debris. Such materials accumulate in large quantities in and around Zurich in what is known as ‘urban mining’. These recyclable building materials are then processed into high-quality concrete in the concrete plants of Agir AG.

A project of this size is preceded by many hours of preparation. How long did it take from planning, construction and production to delivery?

The first talks between the partners Agir AG / Asfatop and GIPO AG took place at the end of 2019. In the course of several subsequent meetings, the technical requirements and needs of the partners involved were defined in such a way that the contract could be awarded to GIPO in August 2020, to the satisfaction of all concerned. Thanks to the extremely professional implementation of the project by GIPO AG, the delivery of the system is scheduled for the spring.

Why did Agir AG again choose a system from GIPO?

We have always been able to rely on GIPO, as a Swiss manufacturer with a high level of technical expertise for whom quality is a very important consideration. In addition, Agir AG is closely linked to the local economy through its location in Amsteg. Of course, that alone is not sufficient justification for the decision to buy from GIPO! But GIPO makes a convincing case with the flexibility of its product range, which global corporations cannot offer. The customer gets exactly the product he wants. And the superlative quality of the products, especially their robustness, was decisive for the decision to purchase. Even if the system is somewhat more expensive than those of foreign competitors, the long service life, and especially the speedy availability of spare parts and service personnel, will more than make up for the investment costs.

About the company:

Agir AG is a company that is now in its 4th generation of management. Its diverse fields of activity – gravel and concrete, plant systems, the environment – are strongly anchored in Switzerland. So, it was very important for Agir to entrust a Swiss partner with the task of implementing its own high expectations in terms of the solution delivered.
