New GIPO plant follows in the footsteps of its predecessor

The municipal waste disposal company of the city of Dortmund, "EDG Holding Dortmund GmbH", operates a recycling centre together with its subsidiary "DOGA Dortmunde Gesellschaft für Abfall (the DOGA Waste Company). The facility is mainly responsible for the recycling, processing and disposal of mineral bulk materials and construction site waste of all kinds, as well as wood and green waste.

The existing GIPO plant had provided faithful service over the decades, but the procurement of spare parts proved to be increasingly complicated and eventually became impossible. A GIPO plant was again considered as a replacement investment, as decades of positive experience encouraged confidence in a successor model. Supported by the regional GIPO sales partner, Apex Fördertechnik GmbH from Geilenkirchen, the decision-makers at DOGA made several visits to similar companies.

Resilient and enduring
The new GIPO impact crusher GIPOREC R131 FDR GIGA DA impressed the company management first and foremost with its solid appearance, mobility and manoeuvrability. Despite its massive construction and 75 tonnes total weight, the combined plant can easily be moved around within the 100,000 m² site of the DOGA recycling centre.

A direct drive was installed in the new GIPO crusher, which enables loss-free power transmission from the 500 HP Scania motor to the impact crusher via only one gearbox. Part of the combined plant is an active pre-screening unit, which separates the feed material from the fine components; the crushing then takes place in a 1'300 mm wide impact crusher rotor. A longitudinally mounted magnetic separator hangs above the main conveyor to remove ferrous particles from the material flow. This increases the service life of the conveyor and reduces maintenance-related downtimes.
